These Terms of Service govern your use of the Ceremonies of Love website and your purchase of any products, editions, or bespoke literary commissions. Please read them carefully. By browsing our platform, purchasing a physical set, or commissioning written work, you enter into a legally binding contract governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits your non-waivable statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

About Us & Strict Exclusion of In-Person Services

Ceremonies of Love is operated by Ceremonies of Love Limited, registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 12 Station Parade, Harrogate, HG1 1UE. Official desk contact: hello@ceremoniesoflove.co.uk.

Strict Exclusion of In-Person Services: Ceremonies of Love operates strictly as an atelier of ceremonial architecture, liturgical writing, physical boxed editions, and creative research. We are not funeral directors, event planners, or celebrants-for-hire. We do not provide in-person officiation, ceremony delivery, event coordination, or physical attendance at any rites or gatherings.

Our online platform is hosted on Shopify Inc. Shopify acts solely as an e-commerce platform provider and is not a party to your transactions with us.

Eligibility & Client Undertakings

By placing an order or commissioning bespoke literary work, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and possess full legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under English law.

All physical creations, published guides, and commissioned texts are supplied for personal, domestic, and private ceremonial use only. You may not resell, sub-license, publish, or commercially exploit any material produced by us without our prior written consent.

Physical Objects, Handcrafted Items & Patinas

We portray all items with care, but screen displays vary. Objects fashioned from solid brass, natural stone, untamed linen, hand-poured wax, or antique patinas naturally vary in tone, surface marks, oxidisation, and texture.

These organic markings are inherent to the material and manufacturing craft. They are intentional characteristics rather than defects, and they do not constitute grounds for return or refund.

Orders & Contract Formation

The website represents an invitation to treat. When you place an order, you submit an offer to purchase. A legally binding contract is established only once we dispatch physical goods or confirm formal acceptance of a private writing commission in writing.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order prior to dispatch for reasons including stock unavailability, pricing inaccuracies, suspected unauthorised transactions, or inability to meet delivery constraints. Where an order is cancelled, we will notify you promptly and issue a full refund.

Pricing, Taxes & International Delivery

All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include UK VAT where applicable. Shipping costs are displayed at checkout. If an obvious pricing error occurs on our store, we are not obliged to supply the goods at the incorrect price and may cancel the order with a full refund.

For international orders shipped outside the UK, you are the importer of record and remain solely liable for all local customs clearance charges, import duties, tariffs, and taxes.

Shipping, Delivery Estimates & Risk

Delivery estimates are guidelines and not guaranteed transit dates. We bear no liability for delays caused by postal disruption, carrier disputes, customs processing, or adverse weather conditions beyond our direct control.

Risk of loss or damage passes to you upon delivery to the specified address. Title passes upon receipt of cleared payment in full.

Ceremony Sets™, Security Seals & Health Boundaries

Self-Led Frameworks: All Ceremony Sets™ are self-contained frameworks designed for private, domestic, and home threshold rites. The purchase of a ceremony set does not include, imply, or contract for the presence of an in-person officiant, celebrant, or ceremonial director. You maintain full responsibility over how and where your private ceremony is conducted.

Sealed Editions & Cancellation Exemption: Each Ceremony Set™ contains original elements and The Ceremony Guide™, authored by Charlotte Fowler FRSA. These literary materials are integral components of the boxed set and are not sold independently. Sets are dispatched in security-sealed presentation packaging. Pursuant to Regulation 28(3) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, once the security seal is broken or the box opened, the statutory right to cancel is extinguished. This applies because: (a) the set is an indivisible conceptual bundle; (b) contents such as consecrated oils, candles, and botanicals are perishable or hygiene-sensitive; and (c) the literary works cannot be returned once accessed. This does not prejudice your statutory rights regarding verified transit damage or manufacturing faults.

No Medical or Grief Therapy Advice: Our guides, litanies, and objects are creative and liturgical resources. They do not constitute psychotherapy, medical treatment, psychiatric care, or clinical grief counselling. If you are experiencing overwhelming acute grief, psychological crisis, or mental health distress, please consult a qualified medical professional or specialised support service.

Literary Commissions, The Ceremony Almanac™ & Studio Capacity

Capacity-Led Commissions: Bespoke works, archival manuscripts, custom texts, and editions of The Ceremony Almanac™ are authored personally by Charlotte Fowler FRSA. The Archive accepts commissions strictly on a limited, capacity-led basis. We reserve the absolute right to decline, defer, or close commission intakes at any time to preserve the integrity of the creative work and the author’s health. Bespoke literary commissions do not include in-person officiation, attendance, or live event management.

No Guaranteed or Emergency Deadlines: Ceremonial writing requires contemplation and measured craft. While we agree upon estimated drafting windows in good faith, time is never of the essence. We do not accept emergency deadlines, same-week turnaround mandates, or time-critical delivery obligations. We bear no liability whatsoever if an intended ceremony, memorial, or family gathering takes place prior to the completion of a commissioned text.

Asynchronous Email Collaboration: To protect the author’s health, energy, and working rhythm, creative intake and client collaboration are conducted strictly asynchronously via email. Commissions do not include live telephone calls, impromptu video conferences, or out-of-hours correspondence. All client feedback must be submitted in writing.

Cancellation Exemption on Bespoke Writing: Commissioned written works are personalised goods prepared exclusively to unique specifications within the meaning of Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By commissioning a bespoke text and paying the fee or retainer, you expressly request that creative research and drafting commence immediately, and acknowledge that all cancellation rights cease once work has begun.

Revisions & Scope: Commissions include up to two (2) consolidated rounds of written revisions submitted within fourteen (14) days of draft delivery. A revision round consists of a single, coherent written dossier of amends. We are not obliged to accommodate rolling, contradictory, or open-ended amendments. Fragmented or structural changes that deviate fundamentally from the original brief will be quoted separately as additional creative work.

Subjective Creative Judgement: Bespoke works are creative literary pieces executed in good faith according to the agreed brief. Disagreement with creative nuance, poetic cadence, or literary tone does not warrant a refund or fee reduction where the work has been completed in alignment with the brief and revised within the agreed rounds.

Right of Disengagement: If a commission relationship becomes adversarial, unreasonable, or compromised by demands that threaten studio boundaries or health, we reserve the right to terminate the commission immediately. In such rare circumstances, we will provide any drafted notes or texts completed to date and issue a fair pro-rata refund for uncompleted work, discharging all further liability.

Intellectual Property: All bespoke writings, manuscripts, and liturgical scripts remain the intellectual property and moral right of Charlotte Fowler FRSA and Ceremonies of Love Limited. The commissioning client receives a personal, non-commercial licence to read or recite the text within their own intimate gathering. No rights of commercial publication, stage reproduction, broadcasting, adaptation, or digital distribution are granted without a separate commercial licence.

Gift Cards & Atelier Vouchers

Standard Redemption Scope: Gift cards issued by Ceremonies of Love are designed and issued for use across our physical and published inventory. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, gift cards are redeemable exclusively for standard physical Ceremony Sets™, books and published atelier objects available directly through our online store.

Strict Exclusion of Bespoke Archive Commissions: Gift cards do not grant automatic access, rights, or entitlement to bespoke literary writing, custom litanies, archival manuscripts, The Ceremony Almanac™, or personal consultation by Charlotte Fowler FRSA. Private writing commissions represent highly limited, individual intellectual creations accepted strictly at the author’s sole artistic and personal discretion.

Conditional Commission Redemption (Prior Enquiry Only): If a cardholder wishes to apply a gift card toward a bespoke literary commission or archive project, they must make a formal prior enquiry to hello@ceremoniesoflove.co.uk before attempting redemption. Acceptance is strictly subject to the author’s studio schedule, health, and current commissioning capacity. Holding a gift card creates no obligation upon Charlotte Fowler FRSA to accept a commission brief or open a writing window. Where we are closed to private commissions, the gift card remains redeemable solely against published ceremony sets and physical objects.

Non-Refundable & Cash Exclusion: Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash, returned, or refunded in whole or part. The inability to secure a private writing commission during periods when the archive is closed to commissions does not constitute grounds for a cash refund or voucher cancellation.

No In-Person Officiation: Under no circumstances may gift cards or vouchers be redeemed for in-person attendance, celebrant officiation, or physical event direction.

Intellectual Property & Trademarks

All digital and physical assets including literary litanies, product titles, packaging architecture, theatrical narratives, visual emblems, and web code are the exclusive property of Ceremonies of Love Limited and Charlotte Fowler FRSA, protected by UK and international copyright laws.

The following represent protected proprietary trademarks of Ceremonies of Love Limited:

Unauthorised imitation, digital duplication, adaptation, or passing off of these marks and literary works will result in immediate legal enforcement under the Trade Marks Act 1994 and the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

Theatrical Works & The Stage

Information published regarding The Claiming™ and upcoming productions refers to works in artistic development. Any public ticketing, private patronage, stage residencies, or theatrical engagements will be governed by separate production contracts and venue agreements.

No licence to perform, adapt, stage, or recite any draft, scene, or excerpt from The Claiming™ or any other script or production is granted through access to this website.

Prohibited Uses & Scraping Protection

You may use our platform only for lawful, personal purposes. You agree not to: (a) extract, scrape, or systematically index our texts, guides, or images using automated software or artificial intelligence models; (b) misrepresent yourself as an authorized practitioner or celebrant of Ceremonies of Love; (c) introduce malicious code, viruses, or disruptive scripts; or (d) disparage, infringe, or dilute our proprietary intellectual property. Any violation will result in immediate termination of account access and referral to appropriate legal authorities.

Force Majeure & Creative Health Incapacity

Because our bespoke works are authored solely by Charlotte Fowler FRSA, our obligations under any commission agreement are conditional upon creative health and physical capacity.

We shall not be liable for any delay, suspension, or non-performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control. This includes, without limitation: acute personal illness, medical leave, bereavement, acts of God, postal disruptions, supply chain collapse, or regional emergencies. Where unforeseen illness prevents the timely completion of an ongoing commission, we will notify you, pause the schedule without penalty, or offer a full pro-rata refund of unworked fees.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by English law, all services, literary works, and physical objects are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without express or implied warranty of any kind, including implied warranties of suitability for a specific domestic ceremonial context.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 regarding items that are proven to be faulty or materially not as described.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permissible by law, Ceremonies of Love Limited and Charlotte Fowler FRSA shall not be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, emotional distress, or loss of intangible benefit arising from the private execution of a self-led ceremony, use of our written texts, or reliance on our ceremonial guides.

Our aggregate financial liability to you in connection with any claim arising out of a transaction shall not exceed the net sum received by us for the specific product, commission, or gift voucher in dispute.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury resulting from proven negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability which cannot be lawfully excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ceremonies of Love Limited, its director, employees, and artistic collaborators from any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) resulting from your violation of these Terms, infringement of our intellectual property, or misuse of our liturgical materials.

Dispute Resolution

In the event of any query, concern, or dispute regarding an order or commission, you agree to contact us in the first instance at hello@ceremoniesoflove.co.uk so that we may seek a calm and equitable resolution directly.

Where an amicable agreement cannot be reached informally within thirty (30) days, both parties agree to explore formal Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or mediation prior to instigating court proceedings.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service, contracts for goods, and bespoke commissions are governed solely by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to non-waivable statutory consumer protections.

General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed to the minimum extent necessary, leaving all remaining provisions in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any written bespoke commission agreement, constitute the complete agreement between you and Ceremonies of Love Limited.

Updates: We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material amendments become effective upon posting to this address.
