Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with Charlotte, the Atelier, and the Archive.

I. The Altar Celebrant services & commissions
What does working with Charlotte involve? +

Every commission begins with a conversation. From there, Charlotte researches, writes, and builds the entire architecture of your ceremony from the ground up. Nothing is templated and nothing is borrowed from another ceremony. The fee includes a personalised consultation, a fully bespoke script, two rounds of revisions, and officiation on the day with travel within the agreed territory. From first conversation to final word, everything is made entirely for you.

What ceremonies do you officiate? +

Weddings and vow renewals. Namings and welcoming ceremonies. Funerals and memorial services. Butterfly Rebirth ceremonies for transitions, endings, and new chapters. The Claiming™, Charlotte's original ceremony of self-commitment. And bespoke private rites for thresholds that do not yet have a name. If it matters enough to mark, it deserves a ceremony.

How far in advance should I book? +

As early as possible, particularly for weekend dates and peak seasons. Availability is intentionally limited, because every ceremony receives Charlotte's full and undivided attention. That said, please do enquire even if your date feels closer than you think is workable. For funerals and memorials, which cannot always be planned ahead, Charlotte will confirm availability immediately and do everything possible to be there.

Are your wedding ceremonies legally binding? +

In the UK, celebrant-led ceremonies are currently symbolic and conducted separately from the civil legal registration, a position that is under active parliamentary review. Charlotte will guide you through the legal paperwork and local authority process so that your registration and your ceremony align perfectly. She is ordained in the United States and is able to officiate legally binding ceremonies in many US states.

Do you offer a Master of Ceremonies service? +

Yes. For those who would like Charlotte to carry the day from ceremony through to the first dance or formal close, a Master of Ceremonies service is available as an add-on. Please enquire for details and availability.

II. The Atelier Ceremony sets & objects
How do the Ceremony Sets work? +

Each Ceremony Set is designed for intimate, self-led ritual. Every set contains Charlotte's Ceremony Guide alongside a curated collection of objects, designed to be held wherever feels right, by however many people need to be there, or by no one but you. The sets do not include live celebrant services; they are complete in themselves, and designed to be. If you would like a personally written script to accompany your set, a bespoke script add-on is available at checkout.

How will my order be delivered? +

All orders are carefully packaged and sent with tracked delivery. Fragile or ceremonial items receive additional protective packaging as a matter of course. Delivery timelines are shown at checkout. If you have a specific date in mind, please reach out before ordering and we will always tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Can I return a Ceremony Set? +

Unopened sets may be returned within 14 days in accordance with our Returns Policy. Once a set has been opened, the contents cannot be returned, as they include hygiene-sensitive, perishable, and copyrighted materials. If your set arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 48 hours with a photograph and we will make it right.

III. The Archive The Almanac™ & The Testament™
What is the Ceremony Almanac™? +

The Ceremony Almanac™ is a privately commissioned document. Charlotte researches your ceremony date and produces a beautifully designed, six-page heirloom exploring its historical, astronomical, folkloric, and symbolic significance. No two Almanacs are the same. It is the story of the day you chose, told properly.

What is The Testament™? +

The Testament™ is a short-form biographical commission authored by Charlotte Fowler. Six beautifully designed pages that document a life, a relationship, or a rite of passage in the subject's own terms, drawn from conversation and memory. It is produced as a private heirloom, not for publication. Commissions are accepted on a limited basis. Please enquire for availability.

Do you donate to charity? +

Yes. A percentage of profits from the Remembrance Ceremony Sets is donated to Sue Ryder palliative and bereavement care, and to Sands, the pregnancy and baby loss charity. This is a commitment Charlotte has held throughout her career, and one she takes seriously.
