Ceremonies of Love®

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with Charlotte, and about the Atelier.

The Practice

What does working with Charlotte actually involve?

When you commission a ceremony, you receive two things in parallel: a rigorous intellectual process, and a deeply personal one. Charlotte will research, write, and build the entire architecture of your ceremony from the ground up, nothing is templated, nothing borrowed from another ceremony. She will then deliver it on the day with the warmth, command, and presence that comes from a lifetime of knowing how to hold a room. From first conversation to final word, every element is made entirely for you.

What is included in the ceremony fee?

Every ceremony includes a personalised consultation, a fully bespoke script, two rounds of revisions, and officiation on the day, with travel within the agreed territory. Should your ceremony require additional site visits, a rehearsal, complex ritual choreography, or travel beyond the standard radius, this will always be discussed openly and in advance, with costs fully disclosed before any commitment is made.

Do you offer legally binding wedding ceremonies?

In the UK, celebrant-led ceremonies are currently symbolic and separate from the civil legal registration, a position that is under active parliamentary review. Charlotte will guide you through the legal paperwork and local authority process so that your legal registration and your ceremony align perfectly. She is ordained in the United States and is able to officiate legally binding ceremonies in many US states.

How far in advance should a ceremony be booked?

As early as possible, particularly for weekend dates and peak seasons. Availability is limited by design, because every ceremony receives Charlotte's full and undivided attention. That said, please do enquire even if your date is closer than you might think is workable. For funerals and memorials, which cannot always be planned ahead, Charlotte will confirm availability immediately and do everything possible to be there.

How long does a ceremony typically last?

Most ceremonies last between 25 and 45 minutes, depending on the ceremony type and the elements you choose. During your consultation, Charlotte will work with you to design a structure that serves the moment, neither rushed nor drawn out, but held for exactly as long as it deserves.

What happens if details need to change after booking?

Life moves, and Charlotte understands that. Small adjustments are rarely a problem. Where changes are more significant, a shift in location, date, or ceremony type, these will be discussed openly, with any implications for timing or fees made clear upfront. The intention is always to keep your ceremony exactly as it should be, with no unwelcome surprises.

Do you offer a Master of Ceremonies service?

Yes. For those who would like Charlotte to carry the day from ceremony through to the first dance or formal close, a Master of Ceremonies service is available as an add-on. Please enquire for details.

Do you donate to charity?

Yes. A percentage of profits from the Remembrance Ceremony Sets is donated to Sue Ryder palliative and bereavement care, and to Sands, the pregnancy and baby loss charity. This is a commitment Charlotte has held throughout her career, and one she takes seriously.

The Atelier

How will my Ceremony Set be delivered?

All sets are carefully packaged and sent with tracked delivery. Fragile or ceremonial items receive additional protective packaging as a matter of course. Delivery timelines and methods are shown at checkout. If you have a specific date in mind, please do reach out before ordering and we will always tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

How does the bespoke script add-on work?

For those who would like a personally written ceremony script to accompany their set, the bespoke script add-on is available at checkout. Please select this option only for ceremonies taking place at least four weeks from the date of your order, so that there is sufficient time to schedule your consultation and produce a script of the quality this work deserves. Once your order is confirmed, you will be contacted within 48 hours to arrange a one-to-one consultation. Your script will be delivered by email, ready to use, print, and keep. The add-on includes one beautifully crafted draft; revisions are available as a separate service should you wish to continue refining it.

How do the Ceremony Sets work?

Each Ceremony Set is designed for intimate, self-led gatherings. Every set contains Charlotte's intellectual and ritual framework, distilled into a beautifully considered collection of objects and guidance, designed to be held wherever feels right, by however many people need to be there, or by no one but you. The sets do not include live celebrant services or on-site support; they are complete in themselves, and designed to be.
